Literature Text

Are you ready for another bad poem?
With feeble rhymes that are stilted and broken.
Coupled with a distinct lack of structure,
Lying in wait amongst actual decent poetry for some sorry sucker,
To stop and be drawn in.

An odd simile, a confusing metaphor,
No true plot, just to make sure it'll certainly be a bore.
(Yet I bet it still gets studied in English classes!)
Thrown out there to horrify the masses,
To make the true poets faces go grim.

Langston will weep,
Plath won't sleep,
Once they glimpse the true horror of this literary mess.
Which just in it's first line has halted Literary progress,
Oh the shame.

But why should I bother to write,
a true poem to contest another poetic might,
when it can't be done?
Because you will hate it, they will love it- and either way I won't have won.
I won't achieve any poetic fame.

So listen to me ramble, because even Monkeys can recreate a Shakespeare play,
but a true poet seems to be the ones whom make their readers shake their heads in dismay,
for true poetry often leaves a reader confused,
just like my poetry can often leave readers bemused,
over what on earth they just looked at.

But as my punctuation lies in tatters,
my correct grammar a stain of bloody smatters,
I still dragged you along this journey just to see,
exactly how bad a poet I can be...
but it's quite entertaining, wouldn't you agree?
The first line is taken from a Fall Out Boy song called "Rat A Tat".
This was a challenge to undergo- I had to take the first line of a song and then use it/ write about it in a poem and create a whole story line based of that poem so...this was born. It was quite entertaining to write- though I don't know if it's just as entertaining to read...sorry!
